The National Magazine Company announces another strong set of ABC figures across the group.
Nine of the company's 16 magazine titles audited in this period are up year on year with star performances in particular from Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Men's Health, Esquire and Coast.
Duncan Edwards, Chief Executive, the National Magazine Company says,
"The success of our titles is due to the long term investment the National Magazine Company has made in nurturing editorial talent and producing world-class content. Many of our titles have experienced consecutive increases - some for more than ten ABC periods - and this is all built on a foundation of high quality journalism and design. We recognise there is some work to do on our weekly portfolio and we have already announced a major initiative for Reveal starting this week.
Highlights include:
• Cosmopolitan leads the market with a 4.4% rise in sales year on year, confirming its position as the biggest brand in the world. The title records its highest sales figure for six ABC periods of 470,735
• Harper's Bazaar records its 11th consecutive increase, up 3.1%
• Men's Health continues to dominate in a market where other titles are in decline with a 2.6% rise
• The new look Esquire, edited by Jeremy Langmead, sees a 8.6% increase in sales year on year
• Coast continues to go from strength to strength with an impressive 33.1% increase in year on year sales
Jessica Burley, Managing Director, the National Magazine Company says,
"We continue to focus our efforts on creative innovation in our magazines. This strategy is paying off in many categories. Cosmopolitan's performance however, is exceptional in the young women's market. Editor Louise Court achieves her third consecutive ABC increase since taking on the editorship 18 months ago."
* The latest figures do not include the Wedding Group - You and Your Wedding and Cosmo Bride, and Runner's World, which only audit once a year.
