The National Magazine Company is committed to minimising the potential for harm to the environment at all stages of its business. As such NatMag aim to promote and maintain environmentally responsible practices, particularly with key suppliers involved in the manufacturing of their products.
The wood purchased by NatMag's paper suppliers comes from sustainable sources and it is ensured that providers of raw produce give clear evidence of their timber sources.
NatMag encourages all stakeholders in their supply chain to adopt best environmental practices whenever possible; for example through the active support of the PPA/BPIF environmental audit scheme and internationally recognised environmental standards such as ISO 14001.
In addition NatMag promotes good environmental practice company-wide through its day-to-day office management.
This is managed through the NatMag Environmental Group which aims to:
• reduce waste
• promote recycling of paper and other products
• instigate best practice throughout all areas of the business
• raise awareness within NatMag of environmental issues.
In May 2008, NatMag was named the tenth greenest company in the UK, and second in London, in the inaugural Sunday Times Green List.
In January 2008, NatMag was also warded the prestigious environmental business certificate ISO14001 in recognition of its commitment to green principles. The company has also recently set a five year target to become carbon neutral by 2013.
NatMag is an active member of the PPA Environmental Concerns Committee which helps to shape policy and raise awareness within the publishing industry.
