Edited by Clare Gogerty, Coast, which celebrates all that is unique about the British coastline, beat 11 other magazines to win the coveted prize.
The PPA Award judges described Coast as a beautiful magazine "... which has cleverly created its own market and had huge commercial and circulation success. A worthy winner".
Coast, which has a circulation of 42,259, has gone from strength to strength since it was first bought by the National Magazine Company in 2005. In the last ABC audit, the magazine celebrated its highest ever figure, up 14.7% year on year.
Editor Clare Gogerty says: "Winning the award is the pinnacle of a great year for Coast. In defiance of a difficult market, our sales have steadily risen and the magazine continues to grow and develop editorially. I am very pleased that the quality of content and all our hard work has been recognised. It is also a timely win: with the hot summer now upon us, there has never been a better time to head for a British beach and Coast is the magazine to take you there."
NatMag Rodale's Runner's World, edited by Andy Dixon, also won the highly commended award for Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year while Men's Health Associate Editor, Toby Wiseman was highly commended in the Writer of the Year category.
NatMag-Rodale is a joint venture between the National Magazine Company and Rodale Inc.
